School Governors

Sparrow Farm Junior School’s Governing Body is committed to supporting the school while upholding the five core functions of school governance. Being a Governor is a fascinating and important role and offers a unique insight into the management of the school. It also carries significant responsibilities.

 Our Governors

Rhonda Evans - Chair of Governors -  Co-opted Governor - Appointed by GB/board - 12/09/2019 - 31/12/2020 - Register of Interests - none declared

I am a journalist and film maker. I grew up in a mining village in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Having been one of the lucky post-war cohort who were fully funded to go to university I then trained as a journalist on a local newspaper before working for the BBC and starting my own company which makes educational films. I am a passionate believer in the power of education to enrich people’s lives and produce citizens capable of having a positive impact upon the world. As a mother of two children who attended state schools in Twickenham I believe that our schools can and should provide the very best start in life for all our children. As your recently elected Chair of Governors I am committed to ensuring all our children experience the educational opportunities they deserve to enable them to go forward into secondary school properly equipped both intellectually and emotionally.

Mark Bulpett - Vice Chair of Governors - Quality of Education Committee Chair - LA Governor - Nominated by LA and appointed by GB - 07/12/2017 - 31/12/2020

Governor at Cardinal Road Infant School - Register of Interests - none declared

I have lived in the London Borough of Hounslow for 45 years, I went to school firstly, at Marlborough Primary School, moved on to Hounslow Manor Secondary School before going to the South Bank University to study for my Degree in Chemical Engineering. I now work for Costain in Hampton Middlesex as a Project Manager, supporting Thames Water with refurbishment project for their drinking water plants in West London.
I have been a Governor for 15 years, have served at Infant, Junior and Secondary levels and have participated in four Ofsted inspections.
For me, being a Governor is about improving all aspects of students learning, irrespective of their background or, any life challenges they have. I believe their education should be outstanding in all respects and have spent my time as a Governor endeavouring to achieve this.

Raymond Fitzgerald - Finance Committee Chair -  Co-opted Governor - Appointed by GB/board - 23/05/2019 - 31/12/2020- Register of Interests - none declared

I’m originally from Galway on the west coast of Ireland and having completed primary and secondary school I then completed a degree in hotel and catering management. This education has allowed me to work with fantastic teams, travel the world (I’ve worked in France, USA, Sweden, Finland and Australia) and today undertake one of the most exiting roles at Heathrow.

My wife and I have lived in Feltham for the past 20 years, where she works for Cisco Systems in Bedfont and I work for Heathrow Airport. I have worked at Heathrow for over 15 years in a number of roles, this has included Retail Operations with an emphasis on food and beverage; Business Resilience focusing on Command and Control and Emergency Planning and currently I lead the Airside Operations team who are responsible for the safety of the airfield. Prior to joining Heathrow I worked for Intercontinental Hotel Group in a variety of operational roles, both at Heathrow and other London locations.

As a recently appointed Governor I look forward to working with teachers and other governors to ensure the children of Sparrow Farm are given the best education possible to allow them to successfully proceed into secondary school and beyond.
