Message from the Head Teacher
On behalf of the staff and governors I would like to welcome you to our school website. It has lots of information to help you learn more about our school.
I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of Sparrow Farm Junior School. All members of the school community are dedicated to providing the children at our school with the best education. Our vision and values are underpinned by the question, ‘What do we want for the children at Sparrow Farm Junior School?’ The answer to this is ‘Be the best that you can be!’ This includes being the best learners; demonstrating the best behaviour; showing respect and taking responsibility. We have high expectations for our pupils. We want them to leave us at the end of Year 6 with the knowledge and skills required to become life-long learners; global citizens; have a ‘can do’ attitude; are confident and able to build positive relationships. Our school values reflect our vision for pupils: Love of learning; Community; Aspiration; Independence; Responsibility. We aim to achieve this through a rich and diverse curriculum that inspires pupils and develops the key skills needed for the next steps of their education.
As well has developing core skills in Literacy and Numeracy, we focus on pupils being good learners through Building Learning Power (Reflect, Think, Working Together, Persevere), and encourage pupils to take responsibility within the school, being part of the Junior Leadership Team, House Captains, Eco warriors, Young Leaders and Librarians.
As well as valuing pupils’ contributions to our school community we also value and understand the importance of building relationships with parents and carers and gaining their views. We work in partnership with parents to ensure that pupils make the best possible progress.
We are at a very exciting stage of our school development as we have recently undergone an extensive expansion programme, which has provided us with additional classrooms, a studio, community room and library. Our recent Ofsted inspection (July 2014) reported that ‘Pupils learn in a purposeful and welcoming environment which promotes good relationships and high expectations for behaviour and achievement.’
Please use our website to find out more about our school or ring the school office to arrange a visit, and see for yourself the community of Sparrow Farm Junior School. We look forward to meeting you!
